About Evardi

Evardi builds the coordination layer for planned work on the power grid. When a utility takes a line out of service, dozens of people across planning, operations, and field crews have to agree on what happens and when. Today that lives in spreadsheets and phone calls. We're replacing it with software control rooms actually use, running on live grids today with paying customers in the US and Sub-Saharan Africa, backed by SF1 and Browder Capital.

This role matters a lot to us, so we want to be honest about who does well here. You'll join a small team moving fast on infrastructure real operators depend on. If you want ambiguity, ownership, and direct contact with the people using what you ship, this role is for you.

The role

You'll work directly with both founders to design, build, and scale Evardi's platform end to end, from the operator console that utility planners and control room staff use daily, to the backend services and data pipelines that connect to the systems a utility already runs.

This is an early engineering role. The architecture decisions you make are the ones the company builds on for years, and what you ship goes to paying customers weekly. You'll sit in on customer calls, visit control rooms with us, and help decide what we build next.

What you'll work on

The exact mix will shift as we grow, but here's what the work actually looks like:

Product and frontend

  • Build the operator console utilities use to plan, review, and approve outages, with interfaces tailored to different roles across distribution, transmission, and power marketing.
  • Render complex operational data like schedules, conflicts, and network context in ways an operator can act on in seconds.
  • Design workflows for approvals, conflict detection, and rescheduling that map to how control rooms actually run.

Backend and data

  • Build ingestion pipelines that pull outage schedules, asset data, and operational records from the systems utilities already use, and normalize wildly inconsistent formats into one coherent picture.
  • Design the data architecture that powers everything downstream, from live coordination views to the models that flag conflicts and risk before they hit the field.
  • Ship APIs and integrations that let Evardi sit alongside a utility's existing planning and execution stack rather than replacing it.

Forward deployed

  • Deploy on site with utilities. You'll work out of their control rooms, learn how each one actually runs, and shape Evardi to fit the way they operate.
  • Turn what you see in the field into product. The problems you watch operators hit are the ones you come back and build the fix for.
  • Own the technical relationship with the utilities you deploy, from first integration through daily use.

Infrastructure and trust

  • Build role-based access, audit logging, and the security posture enterprise utilities require.
  • Own deployments and reliability for software that operators check before sending crews out.
  • Set up the engineering practices the future team inherits from you: CI/CD, testing, observability.

Who you'll work with

You'll work with Diva and Aarya, the two founders. Diva worked in grid operations at a national utility before this and has sold two companies. Aarya spent years as a field engineer on live energy infrastructure and has a patent-pending energy venture of her own. Both of us are in the codebase and on customer calls every week. We're looking for someone who wants to build alongside us from the earliest days and grow with the company as it scales.

What we're looking for

Required

  • Strong full-stack skills: confident in Python and TypeScript across frontend and backend.
  • You've built and shipped real things. Startup work, side projects, open source, anything live.
  • Comfort operating with high autonomy in ambiguous, fast-moving environments. You'll make architecture calls, not execute tickets.
  • Willing to work in person in San Francisco.

Great to have

  • Experience with data-intensive applications: time-series data, geospatial rendering, or large-scale pipelines.
  • Experience building for regulated or enterprise environments, like access controls, audit trails, and multi-tenancy.
  • Energy or utilities background, or genuine curiosity about how the grid works.

Compensation

  • $110,000 to $130,000 base salary.
  • 1.5% to 2.5% equity, 4-year vesting with a 1-year cliff.
